What People Are Saying

“When we arrived Jenny the docent was there. She asked us to wait for a minute while she finished setting up. She set the lights and turned on Frank Sinatra and then invited us in. The house is as beautiful as you would imagine. She spent 45 minutes showing us around. A few hours later the owner, Michael, showed up with the croquet set (and bocce ball) and spent an hour telling us stories about the house. The house, the grounds and everything were wonderful. Such an amazing place. One big highlight was a grand piano and we were fortunate to have a pianist amongst our group who played us classical music the whole time we were there. And make sure to visit the wood type museum.”

“What an unforgettable experience! Michael, the host, was very nice to work with, always responsive. As soon as we walked in we felt like we were in a storybook; the house was delicately lit, the fire was going and jazz was playing on the stereo. Toward the beginning of our stay we were transfixed by the picture-perfect decor and museum-like vibe of the place; like it was unbelievable to be staying here. As time passed and we started putting the kitchen to use we really started living in the space instead of just being in awe by it. Watching the FLW documentary while staying in a FLW house was a great indoor winter activity for us. The furnishings were comfortable, plenty of dinnerware/kitchen utensils and there were plenty of toiletries supplied. I’d prefer to come back in a warm-weather month when we could better explore what the area has to offer; but our winter getaway was great because you really didn’t want to leave the house; it’s just that incredible. Highly recommend staying!”

“We organized a group of three couples (from divergent locations) for our visit and we all agreed it was one of the best stays we could have imagined. We were able to experience a Frank Lloyd Wright home as it was meant to be - by living in it, preparing meals, eating together, hanging out in the "lounge". Seeing how the light transformed the house from morning til night can only be seen/felt by being there. We were fortunate to have a clear sunny day as well as an overcast one to see how the space shifts and the mood softens. A special experience that will be cherished and discussed into the future by our group.”

“Staying at this house was an incredible experience. Just walking through it feels wonderful and there are so many small touches that surprise, delight, and make it such a comfortable home. We really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and exploring the bookshelves in every room. Each bedroom is well laid out and there are interesting books everywhere to crack open and no shortage of places to lounge and read. Even when the temperature dipped dangerously low, the warm floors and the fireplace in the library kept us totally comfortable. We felt very little need or urge to leave the property. When you have the privilege of staying in a Frank Lloyd Wright house, you are there to live in the house, not spend the whole trip visiting attractions, so that's what we did. It was an unforgettable and overwhelmingly relaxing time and we loved every part of it. The architecture is beautiful, but Michael has also done a wonderful job of maintaining and decorating the space. It felt like home for 3 days.”

“We stayed here as a family of four (our kids are 9 & 12) and loved our stay. The house has this magical feel between feeling like you’re in a cabin in the woods and a mansion in a cute town. We loved sitting on the dock and watching the wildlife and having a fire outside, and the wood interior and cozy bedrooms help with that relaxing nature feeling. However, the house is also big and open and very well appointed and gorgeous, so truly felt like luxury in a town with plenty to find. We walked along the beach at the park in town and it was very clean and lovely. Not a long drive to Sturgeon Bay where we found lots of restaurants as well, a nice day trip. Towels and sheets are all very nice, beds are very comfortable, and house is very clean. It’s an old house so of course had some drafts, but there were space heaters in every room. Kitchen was well stocked and we easily cooked every night. Appreciated little touches like popcorn and some kid snacks provided..”

“Our three generation family (10-79 years) all enjoyed the features of the home, the grounds, and the view! The outdoor fireplace, cozy lighting, and details of this home were all big hits!! Great for a weekend stay. We got very lucky with amazing late October/early November weather so exploring the grounds, dock, and the area were so easy to do! It was nice for grandparents, parents, and grandchildren to be able to come together for this unique visit!!!”

“Such a fabulous property! We started off by taking a tour of the home. (They offer tours open to the public). It was so fun to know a lot of the design details and history of the property. We fully embodied the 1940's spirit by planning both drinks and food that would have been popular when the house was built. There is a spacious lawn overlooking the river that we used to play croquet, bocce and tossing a football around. So many great spaces both inside and outside to gather and enjoy. We spent 2 nights there and this was not enough time to fully appreciate this historic home.”

“This is the second time we've stayed at the Still Bend house, and it continues to be a wonderful experience! It feels like such a privilege to stay in this beautiful architectural masterpiece that is steeped in rich history. Michael is easy to communicate with, responsive, helpful, and check in/check out is a breeze. The house has all of the amenities that you need and is a comfortable, calm/quiet oasis perfect for reading, relaxing, playing games, cooking meals, spending time with friends/family, listening to music, and just generally unplugging in a gorgeous space. Already planning another visit in the future! We absolutely love it here.”

“If you're a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright (or just love unique, beautiful architecture) I'd highly recommend booking this house. It exceeded our expectations in every way and is even more incredible in person. Check-in was easy and Michael did a fantastic job walking us through the nuances of the house after we arrived and answered all of our questions. He also provided us with a thorough list of attractions and restaurants in the area, which was appreciated. The house has everything that you need for a pleasant stay, including a well-stocked kitchen, and we really enjoyed relaxing and spending time in this beautiful piece of history. I just wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you, Michael for an unforgettable visit to Two Rivers and Still Bend. We made some great memories and I hope to return again one day!”

“This is a really special place that’s beautiful inside and out. Very thoughtfully decorated, very welcoming and was sparkling clean. We loved spending our time in front of the fireplace on a cold, yet cozy, winter evening listening to the great selection music (Sinatra is a must!). The personal touches make for a wonderful stay that’s very unique to this place. Michael is a wonderful host, very responsive and friendly with great recommendations of places in Two Rivers. Do not miss the chance to eat at Machut’s Supper Club. Michael’s place is truly one of a kind and I cannot wait to visit again soon.”

“I have been eyeing this place on Airbnb for a while now, and my boyfriend & I jumped at the chance to book it for a weekend this winter. We were looking for a change of scenery/to spend a few days in a lovely space, and this house absolutely met and exceeded our expectations. We arrived in the evening and Michael had everything ready for us, including music playing from the player piano - it set the vibe off right and established Michael as a host who really goes above and beyond to ensure guests are enjoying the space. He was quick to respond to questions, offered suggestions about takeout & hikes in the area, and sent information about the history of the house. The house itself is gorgeous - carefully preserved, thoughtfully furnished, stylish, spotlessly clean. We so enjoyed having a chance to unplug and enjoy a beautiful space. The house is full of things to keep you entertained--games, music, vintage books and magazines, a fireplace, a kitchen that's easy to cook in, and a lovely view of the river. We felt lucky to have the opportunity to stay in such a gorgeous work of art. Truly one of the best Airbnb experiences I've ever had and we'll definitely be planning a return visit in the future. Thanks, Michael!”

“The Schwartz house is an amazing experience, FLW fan or not! Michael has provided a fully stocked house, far more than is typical in my experience which was a lovely surprise. The home itself is gorgeous and cozy, and the fireplace complete with plenty of firewood was one of our favorite areas of the house. The view out onto the river is also lovely during the day. Overall highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway!”

“I’ll wrap this up in one word: wow. I never thought I would find myself staying in a FLW home, nor did I imagine how amazing a thing it is to stay in a work of art. Michael is a wonderful, thoughtful host and the home is stellar. Bring your own groceries and plan to stay in and soak in the atmosphere of this amazing home. Do not hesitate!”

— Barbara, July 2020

“Have you ever wanted to time travel? This is as close as it comes. The moment you walk into this beautiful curated FLW home a transformation happens. Sent to decades past and welcomed with a handshake. As you walk the halls and tour the bedrooms you can almost hear the happy families that have lived there. This is not just a house this is a story being told, an architectural history, past down through generations.”

— Steven, July 2020

“A phenomenal stay! The house was stylish and sparkling clean, with plenty of fluffy towels and bedding. To remain socially distant, we cooked every meal (for 7 people) at the house. The kitchen was one of the best stocked I’ve ever seen- from plenty of glassware to more specialized items such as a French press, cast iron pan and meat thermometer. We enjoyed the backyard, the built-in fireplace on the deck and sitting on the dock. It’s a short drive to the lake, gas station and grocery store. We stayed during some particularly warm days, and the house does get stuffy during the heating of the day. However, the hosts have provided fans in the living areas and bedrooms that help circulate the air.”

“This house and all it’s “extra touches” does not disappoint! From Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural genius, the beautiful decor, keeping with the time and design of this home and ALL the attention to detail and extra touches to make our holiday stay simply amazing!!! I cannot say enough about our wonderful stay in this beautiful home!! Thank you Michael for making our family Christmas 2019 extra special! I would love to see this home in different seasons!! Other members of our family would also love to visit this home again!!! We also enjoyed the tour at the Hamilton Printing Museum!”

— Denise, December 2019

“The house looks quite modest from the front but once you walk through the front door and into the main living room you can’t help but smile. The kitchen is relatively small but totally functional, with a dining area next door. The main room is just beautiful and exactly as we imagined it. The master bedroom is also on the ground floor and has a couple of steps down but is very comfortable. The three bedrooms upstairs are a little smaller but functional. Hearing about the history of the house and then being able to browse through all the books and read about FLW and his approach to architecture is just fascinating. The garden is mainly grass and there are steps down to the landing stage on the lake. We saw deer and otters along with herons, but watch out for the midges!”

“Architecture galore. Fireplace awesome and plenty of firewood! PLENTY of space, BEAUTIFUL sunrise effect in the house (wake up for it!). Vibe outstanding. We unplugged from TV and computers and about 80% from our phones. Only feedback, but by no means a deal breaker: It is drafty (space heaters make up for it) and no microwave (totally fine). VERY comfortable master bedroom bed!.”

“It's hard to know where to start the review, because everything about this house was incredible. Do yourself a favor and book it for at least 3 nights (if you can swing more, do it!) 2 nights doesn't do it justice. Being able to live in a historic house such as this was an incredible pleasure, and one I won't forget anytime soon. We read, played games, cooked and grilled, dined inside and out on the patio, had nightly fires in the fire pit, and relaxed on the dock overlooking the river. There were six of us, and we all fit comfortably and had plenty of space. Everyone on our trip raved about the experience. We didn't explore the town very much as we were hellbent on relaxing, but we did visit the Hamilton Type Museum (a must), and stopped by the Washington House for a sundae and a peek at the historic ballroom (also a must!) Neshotah Park was great for a (refreshing!) swim in Lake Michigan. Thank you Michael—I very much hope we can return in the future!”

“Growing up in Racine I’ve always had an affinity for Frank Lloyd Wright. As a child I visited the Golden Rondelle and those memories still lie close to my heart. That made our stay at the Schwartz House one of the most magical and surreal experiences I’ve been lucky enough to stumble across. Michael & Jenny warmly greeted us with a brief tour & a treasure trove of information about the construction and thought process around this Still Bend beauty. We grossly over packed & prepared for this trip, the hosts have so graciously stocked their home with everything needed for our stay. Keep in mind this home is “period correct,” so no microwave! That was a pleasant surprise as was making coffee in a vintage percolator. The view from the backyard was breathtaking day or night. We enjoyed sipping coffee on the boat dock mornings while watching various waterfowl and fish frolic in the river. Evenings were spent playing board games in the den alongside a small fire for added ambiance. There was also a sunken in fire pit in the back yard overlooking a moonlit glistening river. If any potential guests are debating a stay here, don’t hesitate! Also, make sure to visit Kurtz’s for an authentic German sandwich. Stroll down Main Street and shop Schroeder’s department store and drop in Basil Ishkabibble’s art gallery for a taste of hometown flavor. Oh!!! I almost forgot about the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum! Anyway... I could ramble all day about how awesome this was. ;) Thanks again Michael & Jenny! We look forward to our next stay!”
